                                                Historical Research and Preservation

The mission of The Lodges at Banning Mills Retreat and Conservation Center is two fold. We seek to provide and develop leadership training programs via team building, adventure based experiences to youth, families, churches and other organizations within a hospitality mission that provides accommodations and meeting space enabling personal growth, enrichment, relaxation, study and meditation.

We are dedicated to the preservation of the unique beauty of the ecosystem of the Snake Creek Gorge watershed and Chattahoochee watershed and to the research and promotion of the immense historical value of the Snake Creek Gorge and Banning Mills township which is located within the Gorge itself.

Goals:-

To provide premier leadership programs advancing skills that will empower individuals and organizations to become responsible and productive contributors to their families and communities.

Offering a mission of hospitality that provides excellent facilities allowing individuals and organizations to meet, learn and renew.

To preserve the entire Snake Creek Gorge water basin and its unique ecosystem by working with the Trust for Public Land and other conservation minded organizations.

Seek designation of the Banning Mills Township (located right in the Snake Creek Gorge) as a National Historic site.

To recreate a Creek Indian village as part of the historical research and interpretation.

Establish an interpretive center that will span the history of the Snake Creek Gorge and Banning Mills to include the Early Native American history through the industrial age.

A self supporting non profit organization.
