Fun Adventure Activities at Historic Banning Mills for your Group or your Entire Family.

Looking for fun adventure? From moderate to extreme adventures, options are only limited by your imagination and energy level.

Historic Banning Mills is a natural adventure wonderland with a strong historical and cultural background. For starters, there are several sets of ruins dating back to over 170 years. You can explore them in the wooded hiking trails that guide you in and around Snake Creek Gorge.

Horseback Riding in the Lovely Outdoors

Enjoy horseback riding on our beautiful and historic trails with peaceful surroundings. Rides start at $39 per person for 1 hour and $70.00pp for the 2-hour ride. We can arrange for half-day and full-day rides.

Please call for costs and more information. There is a 7 day cancellation

policy in effect. If a cancellation is received less than 7 days before the

scheduled ride, a 50% charge of the total event will be assessed to the

credit card on file. You may move the date once with a $25.00 transfer fee. No shows or cancellations on the day of the event will

result in the full charge being applied.

Please Note: Advance notice and reservations are required. Do not wear flip flops, sandals or shoes with no backs. A one inch heel is suggested. Pants are suggested for a more comfortable ride. Minimum of two to open the ride.

Skeet Range

Take a shot at our skeet range and pistol range shooting grounds. The Skeet Range includes sporting guns, cartridges, targets and facilitator. The cost is $60 for 50 targets (clays), or 50 rounds, whichever comes first.

Note: The pistol range is temporarily Closed for maintenance.

Please Note: Minimum participation is 6 people with advance notice. The shooting grounds are open except during team building, canopy tours and horseback riding sessions. Scheduled skeet events require a 7 day cancellation notice before the reserved date or 50% of the total charge will be assessed to the credit card on file. No shows or cancellations on the day of the event will be charged the full amount.

Relaxing and Unsinkable Kayak Rides

Take a peaceful ride in our unsinkable kayaks. They are safer than a boat or canoe, are very hard to turn over, and no roll training is required. These kayaks provide a relaxing platform to observe nature's wonders and the native heritage of our rivers and creek. You can ride the kayaks in the Chattahoochee River. Go back in time and paddle in the same areas as the Creek and Cherokee Indians did generations ago. Your kayak trip on the Chattahoochee River  can include seeing the historic Chief William McIntosh Reserve. Rate is $80.00pp for the six mile trek.  $115pp for the 14 mile trek.

Please Note: Group size is a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 18. Participants must be at least 10 years old. Shoes are required and all participants will be required to wear life jackets the whole trip. Trip times average from 3 to 4 hours for our 6 mile trek to up to 8 hours on our 14 mile trek. Times depend on the trip selected and water levels. Trips are available all year long except we are closed on Thanksgiving and Dec 22 thru Jan 2 of each year. We reserve the right to cancel trips due to inclement weather and to substitute treks due to water levels. A designated adult must accompany minors. Kayaking does require advance notice.

Team Building Low-High Ropes Course

Want participate in a challenging team-building adventure? Georgia's Premier Low-High Ropes Course (The Snake Creek Challenge) will have you thinking differently about Team Building. This course is laid out in one of the most beautiful settings in the Southeast. This course is designed to promote team building within any kind of organization.

The 27 course elements build trust, teamwork, action, accountability, purpose and problem solving. Our facilitators are professional and trained to take your organization to new levels. We offer half-day, full-day and overnight packages.

This Low-High Ropes Course was uniquely designed by Signature Research, which is one of the most respected designers in the United States. We are a member of the ACCT and CCI. Group size has a minimum of 6 participants to open the course. Advance reservations needed.  A 14 day cancellation notice is in effect. If an event is cancelled less than 14 days before the event, a 50% of the total event charge will be assessed to the credit card on file. Cancellations on the day of the event or no shows will be charged the full amount.

Team Building GPS NEW Adventure Challenge

The GPS Adventure Challenge is an innovative way of team building in a scenic historical area! This course combines adventure, technology and team building into a unique and exciting group experience. This adventure challenge is based on the recreational sport called "geo caching". This is the ultimate team problem solving adventure. There must be at least 6 participants to open the course. Advance reservations are needed. A 14 day cancellation notice is required.  If an event is cancelled less than 14 days before the event, a 50% of the total event charge will be assessed to the credit card on file. No shows or cancellations on the day of the event will result in the full amount being charged.

Exploring History and Nature with Day Hiking

With acres and acres of wooded property, there are many trails to explore at Historic Banning Mills. As you hike along the old town roads, Creek Indian paths and old water raceways, one can feel generations of the past envelope you. Hike along Snake Creek, explore the ruins of the paper mill and walk on actual water raceways.

everyone.  RSVP must be made and price is $5.00pp . Under 4 years old are free. Absolutely no pets allowed!

Trails range from mild to moderately strenuous. Please remember that we are not a Park. To explore our trail systems, one must be a registered guest either at the inn or on one of our adventure treks or at our RV park. Thank you for your understanding. We DO NOT allow pets onto the property at any

time.   Please note that if you wish to walk the trails, there is a $4.00pp maintenance fee and you must sign in at the front desk! Proceeds go to keeping this historic area in pristine condition.

It is best to call ahead of time to make sure that the trails will be open the day you wish to come by.

While you are here, you may want to visit some fun local recreational venues. If golf is your pleasure, there are 3 championship golf courses near by, and we would be happy to make a tee-time for you. Call for rates.

Visit Carroll County's really cool Pine Mountain Gold Museum in Villa Rica. Or take time to visit the oldest bookstore in Georgia in downtown Carrollton. Visit Rita Hayworth's grave site, the University of West Georgia and our soon to open National quilt museum, all in Carrollton.

Also, Six Flags over Georgia and Dunaway Gardens in Newnan are around a half-hour’s drive from Historic Banning Mills. Atlanta is about an hour from us. See the World of Coke, the Georgia Aquarium or the Cyclorama!

**Please note that we have a 7 day cancellation policy for horseback riding, canopy tours, kayaking, and skeet range. If a group is more than 10 people, the cancellation reverts to a 14 day cancellation. Cancellations less than 7 days (14 days for groups of 10 or more) will be assessed a 50% of the total charge to the credit card on file. No shows or day of cancellations will be charged the full adventure trek price.  Please understand that facilitators have been scheduled for your adventure trek and that your reservation has kept others from reserving your slot or have taken facilitators away from other obligations.  Please check your group contract for cancellation policies on the team building and geo treks.
