Fun Adventure Activities at Historic Banning Mills for your Group or your Entire Family

Looking for fun adventure? From moderate to extreme adventures, options are only limited by your imagination and energy level. Historic Banning Mills is a natural adventure wonderland with a strong historical and cultural background. For starters, there are several sets of ruins dating back to over 170 years. You can explore them in the wooded hiking trails that guide you in and around Snake Creek Gorge.

Horseback RidingHorseback Riding in the Lovely Outdoors
Enjoy horseback riding in our beautiful trails and peaceful surroundings. Rides start at $39 per person for 1 hour. 2-hour, half-day and full-day rides are also available. Please call for costs and more information.

Skeet Range
Take a shot at our skeet range and pistol range shooting grounds. The Skeet Shoots Range includes sporting guns, cartridges, targets and facilitator. The cost is $50 for 50 targets (clays), or 50 rounds, whichever comes first. The pistol range is up to 50 meters and has spinners and metal targets. 22 and 380 caliber, and 9mm pistols rentals are available for $10. A box of ammunition ranges from $7 to $30 a box, depending on the gauge size.
Please Note: Minimum participation is 4 people with advance notice. The shooting grounds are open except during team building and horseback riding sessions.
KayakingRelaxing and Unsinkable Kayak Rides
Take a peaceful ride in our unsinkable kayaks. They are safer than a boat or canoe, are very hard to turn over, and no roll training is required. These kayaks provide a relaxing platform to observe nature's wonders and the native heritage of our rivers and creek. You can ride the kayak in the Chattahoochee River, the Tallapoosa River or in our lake. Go back in time and paddle in the same areas as the Creek and Cherokee Indians did generations ago. Your kayak trip on the Chattahoochee River includes seeing the historic Chief William McIntosh Reserve.

Please Note: Group size is a minimum of 8 and a maximum is 17 and participants must be at least 10 years old. Trip times average from 2 to 4 hours, depending on the trip selected and water levels. Trips are available only from May 30th to September 30th every year. We reserve the right to cancel trips due to inclement weather and to substitute treks due to water levels. A designated adult must accompany minors. Kayaking and Fly Fishing are both on-site adventures that require advance notice.

The 27 course elements build trust, teamwork, action, accountability, purpose and problem solving. Our facilitators are professional and trained to take your organization to new levels. We offer half-day, full-day and overnight packages.

HikingExploring History and Nature with Day Hiking
With acres and acres of wooded property, there are many trails to explore at Historic Banning Mills. As you hike along the old town roads, Creek Indian paths and old water raceways, one can feel generations of the past envelope you. Hike along Snake Creek, explore the ruins of the paper mill and walk on actual water raceways. Trails range from mild to moderately strenuous.
GolfOther Activities and Adventures Nearby
While you are here, you may want to visit some fun local recreational venues. If golf is your pleasure, there are 3 championship golf courses near by, and we would be happy to make a tee-time for you. Rates start at $70 per person. Also, Six Flags over Georgia and Dunaway Gardens in Newnan are around a half-hour’s drive from Historic Banning Mills.

Please note that we have a 24 hour cancellation policy for horseback riding, canopy tours, kayaking, and skeet range.  No shows or cancellations less than 24 hours will be charged the full adventure trek price ( canopy tour is 50%).  Please understand that facilitators have been scheduled for you adventure trek and that your reservation has kept others from reserving your slot or have taken facilitators away from other obligations.  Please check your group contract for cancellation policies on the team building and geo treks.
